Welcome to the singing bowls by D Bowl Guy- Dallas Frakes.  After Dallas lost his mom back in 2008, it seems the singing bowls just landed in his lap.  He experienced this sound marvel in an acupuncture treatment and was hooked.  He found a course teaching the therapeutic use of the singing bowls, started searching for "his" bowls and other sound instruments and the rest is history.  Scroll down to find what is a singing bowl, what does a sound bath treatment do...

Dallas has always had a natural connection to music and rhythm.  He feels energy with his hands, senses it naturally and with ease.  For the past 6 years, Dallas has been giving personal treatments and group meditations.  He continually hones his skills.  Over the years has expanded his healing bowl collection. Adding in other sound instruments to the family such as gongs, drums, tingshas, bells and chimes.  Each sound shifting focus and bringing in a multidimensional sound bath experience.

What does a singing bowl or sound bath treatment do?

"Sound and vibration can be used to re-tune us to health and one of the most powerful modalities for this is the use of Tibetan singing bowls.  When there is a deep relaxation through soothing, resonant sound, the body is affected on a cellular level, opening up the flow of energy to move us back toward vibration alignment and with health.  Sound can help us shift our energy frequency from lower to higher removing the lower frequencies of emotion such as fear, anger and resentment."
"Healing through sound and vibration has been known to reduce stress, improve, concentration, reduce blood pressure, stimulate life force flow in the body, improve immunity, harmonize the chakras with the energy field, heighten intuition and perception, synchronize the brain hemispheres, remove mental and emotional negativity and enhance creativity."
"As much as 70% of the human body is made up of water, so when you strike a singing bowl next to your body, the vibration makes a pattern in your body, which is healing and relaxing."   Suren Shrestha author of How to Heal with Singing Bowls

What is a singing bowl treatment?

An individual treatment is given on a massage table.  You stay fully dressed and are covered with a warm blanket.  You may chose to use an eye cover to help you relax.  The singing bowls are placed around you and sometimes on you.  Dallas will strike-activate the bowls in patterns, rhythms and as called.  You will feel the vibrations through your bones. You will hear the harmonic sounds.  The sounds may be unfamiliar, and in this new experience gives your brain cause to listen.  All you have to do is listen, listen to the sounds and just be.  So often you may finds yourself drifting in and out of a light sleep.
The treatments are usually around 50 minutes. Part of the treatment you will be lying down and part of the treatment you might be standing in the big bowl F note bowl, letting the vibrations flow from your feet up your legs.
Each treatment is unique, you are part of the treatment helping set the intention of what you are hoping to achieve before the treatment.

Is this a new age kind of thing?

That's unlikely, given singing bowls were originally made some 2,400 years ago. Sometimes we need to go back to find our footing in today's world.  The singing bowls are a primal or ancient sound that helps put you back in tune.  The are called singing bowls because when rubbed they will sometimes move to a higher note, making a kind of singing sound.  Dallas says they seems to know when to sing and when to hum.

What can a singing bowl treatment can do for me?

It is hard to explain what a singing bowl can do and how quickly they work.  A few years ago I (Denise Frakes and Dallas's wife), visited my Aunt Velma.  At the time she was 103 years old, in hospice and having a very bad day.  When my mom and I walked into the room she had her head in her hands. She was lost and in despair.  This may sound normal for someone in this situation, but not my aunt, she was curious and interested in life until she left this world.  But on this particular day, she was feeling the weight of life.
I was in Colorado visiting family and had just picked up our new E note Tibetan singing bowl. I had brought the bowl to my Aunts, thinking she might like to check out one of Dallas's singing bowls.
Before playing the bowl I asked her, "Aunt Velma, can I play this bowl for you"?  No response.  So I gently tapped the edge of the big bowl- a rich deep, round vibration and sound flowed forth.  Within 30 seconds- literally- 30 seconds, she lifted her head, took a deep breath and was back.  It was like the bowl brought life back into my aunt.
This is the best way I know how to describe the benefits of a singing bowls.  They bring you back to yourself- grounded, centered, de-stressed, open and clear.
